NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Haines City, Florida, per Ordinance 20-1676, is providing notice to the public of our planned cemetery clean-up. Notification includes 30 days of posting the notice in Haines City's public facilities, signage within the cemeteries, and an advertisement in the local newspaper of general circulation in Polk County, Florida. The cemetery clean-up is scheduled to begin on or about Monday, March 20th, 2023 and will continue throughout 2023.

Excerpt of Ordinance 20-1676

No floral arrangements, real or artificial, shall be placed directly into the ground. All floral arrangements shall be attached to the monument by a saddle or a vase. Only one (1) Sheppard hook, not to exceed 60* in height, shall be permitted for hanging a floral arrangement.

No coping, curbing, fencing, borders, slabs, dirt mounds, hedges, wood, rock, bark or like materials shall be allowed on or around graves, monuments or markers, except that coping and slabs shall be allowed in the Forest Hill Original Section.

For the safety of all in the Cemetery and or any cemetery owned, operated, or maintained by the City, no glass containers, figurines, statuaries, picture frames, food, ceramics, terra cotta, resin, trinkets, exposed wire, wind chimes, solar lights, garden flags, live plants, or breakable items shall be permitted on the gravesite, except that solar lights shall be permitted to illuminate flags of origin.

Periodically the City shall remove flowers, real or artificial, when they appear unsalvageable or expired. The city shall remove, any trees, shrubs or flowers planted or placed in violation of these rules.
