The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office's Countywide DUI Enforcement Squad cracked down on the rotten eggs over the holiday weekend.
In 2019, teamHCSO implemented a squad dedicated to patrolling the county targeting drug and alcohol-impaired drivers. From April 7, 2023, to April 9, 2023, the DUI Enforcement Squad made 29 arrests. Of those arrested, one man blew a .219/.214 on the breathalyzer test after driving the wrong way on I-275.
"Driving under the influence doesn't just put your life in danger, but it is also a blatant disregard for the safety of everyone on the road," said Sheriff Chronister. "I commend our DUI enforcement squad for their tireless work, and we will continue to crack down on every individual that chooses to make this detrimental decision."
Easter Weekend DUI Enforcement resulted in a total of the following:
Traffic Stops- 244
Citations- 3
Warnings- 241
DUI Arrests- 29
Several arrests were repeat offenders and subsequently charged with a Felony DUI.
In the PSA below, Sheriff Chronister discusses the dangers of drinking and driving.
