On Monday, April 3, 2023, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office will be releasing inmates housed at the South County Jail and the Central County Jail from the new Sheriff’s Releasing Center, at 1255 Gunn Hwy in Bartow (directly behind the Central County Jail at 2390 Bob Phillips Road, Bartow).
At this time, cash and surety bonds will still be paid at the Sheriff’s Processing Center (SPC), located at 7101 DeCastro Road, Winter Haven. Those who are arrested, booked into the Processing Center, and then bond out from there (the SPC), will still be released from the Sheriff’s Processing Center.
Currently, Gunn Hwy in Bartow does not show up on all online mapping services and GPS devices, and Gunn Hwy may be labeled as Hospital Road (Google Maps, for example, shows the location accurately, but the street is listed as “Hospital Rd”).
