This is Gustavo. He accidentally dialed 911 (it happens). In his case, Deputy Smith went out to check on him, and a friendly game of hoops ensued. Gustavo apologized and said he was very sorry for wasting our time.

No apologies are necessary, and there's no need to be embarrassed - it's our job to check on you all and make sure you are safe.

HOWEVER - we do have one simple request: If you DO accidentally dial 911 and realize it, PLEASE do not hang up. PLEASE stay on the line so that our calltakers can make sure you are okay. If you hang up, we have to keep calling you back (and many of you don't answer, which means then we have to come check on you). PLEASE answer the phone when we call and please talk to us. The less time we spend responding to non-emergencies, the more time we have to respond to the actual emergencies.

Oh yeah, one more thing - letting the little ones play with your phones, even when you think they are disabled from making calls, is a whole other reason we get lots of 911 hangups. Please check the settings on your phones and disable that feature if you're going to allow the little ones to play with them. THANK YOU!
