A new roadway has been constructed to connect Carpenters Way with Lakeland Park Drive. The new section of road is about one-half mile in length. This new connector road provides two travel lanes, a 10’ wide shared-use path, stormwater system, street lighting, and a new intersection with Carpenters Way, which is located between Interstate 4 and the Carpenters Way historic arch.The Lakeland City Commission awarded a construction contract in the amount of $6,309,598 to QGS Development, Inc., located in Plant City, FL. Construction began June 2021 and was completed in February 2023. A second phase is planned which will connect Carpenters Way with Lakeland Park Center Drive in the vicinity of Ford’s Garage restaurant.
